I am pleased that in this new Congress, we are able to take up and pass a bill that implements the 9/11 Commission recommendations. Even though aviation security has improved greatly in the last 5 years, there are still holes in the system--as we discovered last summer with the aviation terrorist plot uncovered by the British authorities. Therefore, implementing these recommendations is crucial.
