“I have been waiting to speak to the Senate to place in the Record the case that we have to make to take action to ease the impact of unfettered global warming. I think most Americans know by now--at least those who follow environmental issues--that on our committee, we have Senator Inhofe, who is the former chairman, in a very different place than the current chairman, myself. Senator Inhofe spoke for a couple of hours on this subject last week, and I told him I would come down and put forward my thoughts. I am sure he will want to respond to what I say. That is what the Senate should be. We should be able to debate. I have been looking forward to this debate because, frankly, there are very few isolated and lonely voices who keep on saying we do not have to worry about global warming. Those voices are getting fewer and fewer. The reality is that a growing and diverse group of voices has recognized the importance of addressing global warming.”
