“Colleagues, this is a very important vote. We already voted to level the playing field for America in that last vote so that countries cannot take advantage of us. But I have to say, this motion would hold this Nation hostage to China and India. Since when do we wait around for countries such as China to act on human rights issues, on economic issues, on environmental issues? That is not America. I believe this is a motion that looks to fear, not hope. This is the greatest country on Earth, and I do not think we should tell ourselves we can do nothing about a pressing issue until a foreign country acts.”
