Let me say to my friend again, I appreciate his leadership on this. We did hold a press conference today, the Democratic members of the Budget Committee, to call everyone's attention to this. When you deal with a budget the size of this Federal budget, it has a lot of important things that we do. But this is one thing that we need to call attention to, the fact that if we are going to protect Social Security and Medicare, we are going to have to defer these tax cuts for the wealthiest people, some of them earning millions of dollars, who would get back tens of thousands of dollars, while the average person would get back $99. As a result, we would see Medicare essentially shut down as we know it, and we don't want to go through another Government shutdown of that nature. We don't want a Medicare shutdown; we don't want an education shutdown. We want a budget that addresses these issues.
