“I am so pleased to join the senior Senator, Senator Feinstein, in strong support of her bill, the California Desert Protection Act. I am very proud to be her original cosponsor on this legislation. Mr. President, when we pass this bill, we will protect the California Desert and prove once and for all that strong environmental policy makes good economic sense. Recently, Mr. President--and I am sure you will remember--Senator Feinstein and I stood on the floor of the U.S. Senate and we asked our colleagues for help.
