“My main reason and what brings me to the floor today in opposition is for the reason of privacy, privacy, privacy, privacy. If there is anything that runs through the veins of the American people, it does not matter what party they belong to, it does not matter where they live, it does not matter how much money they have, it does not matter what color they are, they want their privacy protected. There is something wrong when the Congress considers a bill where the bankers know more than our doctors or have the same information. We need to stand with our constituents in this battle, and we need to stand next to what every red-blooded American understands, that what they have in their checking account, what they have in their money market account is no one else's business.
