We are concerned that this hiring decision in Shasta County has less to do with Ms. Peters’ qualifications, and more to do with the President’s obsession with interfering in the midterm elections.

The Trump Administration is ripping away billions of dollars that California communities rely on to keep people safe, housed, fed and healthy.

I’m grateful to the leaders on the front lines who are fighting back, and I will continue doing my part in Congress to protect the critical programs that Californians depend on.

Attempts by the Administration to expedite the deportation of these children by limiting their access to immigration counsel deserves urgent oversight.
