These targets are certainly reasonable, and they are consistent with what the world has agreed to for climate targets.
I personally remain cautiously optimistic, but I also still believe that transitioning away from fossil fuel is the most effective strategy for saving the planet for our children and for our grandchildren.
As such, building even one new oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico will deepen the climate crisis, disproportionately imperiling low-income communities and communities of color in the process.
I believe the only response to this is to make sure that the fleet is big enough and flexible enough to meet congressional requirements.
