I have an amendment at the desk. The Acting CHAIR. The Clerk will designate the amendment. The text of the amendment is as follows: Page 134, strike line 3 and all that follows through page 135, line 18, and insert the following: (9) by striking subsections (f), (g), and (h) and inserting the following: ``(f) Grants and Reimbursement to Tribal Governments.-- ``(1) Reimbursement.-- ``(A) In general.--The Attorney General is authorized to reimburse tribal government authorities for expenses incurred in exercising special tribal criminal jurisdiction. ``(B) Eligible expenses.--Eligible expenses for reimbursement shall include-- ``(i) expenses incurred to arrest or prosecute offenders and to detain inmates (including costs associated with providing health care); ``(ii) expenses related to indigent defense services; and ``(iii) costs associated with probation and rehabilitation services. ``(C) Procedure.--Reimbursements authorized pursuant to this section shall be in accordance with rules promulgated by the Attorney General after consultation with Indian tribes and within one year after the date of enactment of this Act. The rules promulgated by the Department shall set a maximum allowable reimbursement to any tribal government in a one year period.…
