I thank the gentleman from Florida for his thoughtful and necessary amendment that will restore offshore drilling regulations and that will reduce the risks the Gulf communities face from offshore development. I thank him for that, and I very much support the amendment.

Mr. Cole's bill would simply restore the Secretary of the Interior's authority to take land into trust for all tribes, regardless of their date of Federal recognition.
I look forward to working with you, Madam Chair, and the other members of the Subcommittee to move this bipartisan bill in a similar bipartisan manner.
This law would apply to all of our public lands, including national parks, wilderness areas, and BLM land.
