As a reminder, seeking asylum is a human, legal right protected by international law and United States law, period. Instead of wishing that that was not the case, Republicans should work with Democrats and the administration to move a meaningful response to this humanitarian crisis and dealing with the issue of comprehensive immigration reform. Unfortunately, we are here debating a senseless stunt of a bill instead. Mr. Chair, I yield 3 minutes to the gentlewoman from Chicago, Illinois (Mrs. Ramirez).
