Raúl Grijalva: “I am going to have other questions.”

A few weeks ago, I sought medical treatment for a persistent cough which was initially diagnosed as pneumonia. After further testing and imaging, my physician discovered that I have cancer.

I rise today, the proud granddaughter of a bracero, a hardworking Mexican immigrant who came to this country for a better life, and I stand as the proud daughter of a U.S. Congressman, a man who spent his entire life fighting for justice…

To merely open the floodgates to the use of our public lands without any protections, due process, community involvement... is going back to a time that got us into this situation.

One thing came out of this was good. I quit smoking.
