We must reauthorize PILT and we must continue to provide the support these counties and communities need.

And it appears that there was a period from 1995 to 2007 when the amounts appropriated to the program fell short of the authorized levels.
Some units of local governments that are already fairly well off receive large PILT payments while some areas that have very limited resources do not receive as much.
I cannot envision a scenario for Arizona's counties that doesn't involve the PILT program.

The designation of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument has had little or no effect on the economic situation of the host counties.
We should, however, be certain about one thing. Working families are hurting through no fault of their own, and need this Congress to take action to create jobs.
Its singular goal is to delay, and openly prevent, union representation elections.
Rather than focusing on getting Americans back to work, the majority is stubbornly continuing their ideological war against workers and their unions.
