Why would you not ever want to tell the American people how you are going to spend their dollars?
You are not serving the Nation or the taxpayers if they do not know how much of their taxpayer dollars are being spent.
Frankly, I have never heard of this before, that they should not know how much of their dollars that they pay in taxes are being spent because somebody might connect the dots?
Why should the taxpayers not know? Why should the average citizen not know what the cost of a--whatever--how many tens of billions of dollars--$80 billion to $100 billion program?
I believe that the 2016 NDAA required a reporting on the total number of F-35's that will be procured.

Finally, on the children showing up at the border, is one of the answers increasing our embassy and consulate capabilities in those three countries...
I think we need more resources at the Federal Government level, not just DHS, but DOJ and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)...
But it also seems that the problem is increasing--according to these Governors--rather than decreasing.
I hope that this Committee and the Congress can get some recommendations from you, because, frankly, I have not seen anything quite like this...
I know that you know that there is an epidemic of manufactured heroin, and the deaths from manufactured heroin overdoses have been described by some Governors, including the Governor of New Hampshire, as a, quote, 'epidemic.'
I think that, just as we in the military provide incentive pay for hardship positions, I hope that you would look at that.
