I spoke up against out-of-control spending. I spoke up against the administration and Congress and Senator Obama when they gave us an energy bill with more than giveaways to big oil and really no solution to our energy problems.

Yesterday, he accused me of having President Bush's policies on energy. That's odd, because he voted for the president's energy bill and I voted against it.

He also hammered Barack Obama's energy plan.

McCain called for a federal investigation into DHL's latest plans.

What we need today is an economic surge. Our surge has succeeded in Iraq militarily. Now we need an economic surge to keep jobs here at home and create new ones.

We need to reduce the tax burden on businesses that choose to make their home in the United States of America.

Now is the time for action. And when I'm president, we are going to get it done.

Raising taxes in a bad economy is about the worst thing you can do because it will kill even more jobs when what we need are policies that create jobs.

I admire and respect Senator Obama. For a young man with very little experience, he's done very well.

America has the second highest business rate in the entire world. It's any wonder that jobs are moving overseas and we're taxing them out of the country. Unfortunately, Senator Obama's plans would raise taxes on businesses even more.

Senator Obama has said that expanding our nuclear power plants -- quote -- "doesn't make sense for America" -- unquote. He also says no to nuclear storage and no to reprocessing. I could not disagree more.

I proposed a plan to build 45 new nuclear plants before the year 2030. And that would provide 700,000 jobs for American workers.

I think he might be a little bit confused, because when the energy bill came to the floor of the senate full of goodies and breaks for the oil companies, I voted against it. Senator Obama voted for it.

Unfortunately, Senator Obama continues to oppose offshore drilling. He continues to oppose the use of nuclear power. These misguided policies would result in higher energy costs to American families and businesses and increased dependence…

We need to offshore drill for oil and natural gas. We need to drill here and we need to drill now.

I'm going to lead our nation to energy independence and I'm going to do it with a realistic and comprehensive, all of the above approach that uses every resource available to finally solve this crisis.

These misguided policies would result in higher energy costs to American families and businesses and increased dependence on foreign oil. We're not going to achieve energy independence by inflating our tires.

We stand warned by serious and credible scientists across the world that time is short and the dangers are great. The most relevant question now is whether our own government is equal to the challenge.

The last thing we need in an economic downturn, my friends, is a raise -- is increasing your taxes. Senator Obama wants to raise capital gains tax. He wants to raise small business taxes. He wants to raise the state taxes. He wants to…
