Unfortunately the bills that Speaker Pelosi, Leader Reid and President Obama are pushing through Congress will do little to address spiraling health care costs.

Small businesses are our Nation's economic engine. We need to pursue policies that help these entrepreneurs thrive.

We need to review the inertia as much as we do the waste, fraud, and abuse.

The thing I worry about more than waste, fraud, and abuse is inertia.

Despite the challenges that were overcome to protect these areas, they now face new threats to their long-term viability, and I am not sure of any long-term management issue more significant than climate change.

I hope to use today's hearing to continue to build upon that discussion by broadening the scope to look at climate-related impacts to all units of the National Park System throughout the country.

To a large degree, our Nation's parks are the canary in the coal mine when it comes to the on-the-ground changes due to the impacts of a warming climate.

If Congress is going to pass this massive energy tax, which I view it as, a large unfunded mandate, what's the government's responsibility?
