U.S. manufacturing's global market share has held steady at around 20 percent for nearly the last 30 years.

Do we have to, in every single law that we pass, that we pass through the Congress and the President signs, do we have to add a clause that says we really mean it, you have to actually enforce these laws?

I firmly believe that manufacturing is important to our economy and innovation, but I am troubled by the continued reliance on politically driven research and development.

Mexico holds its presidential elections later this year, and my hope is that regardless of the outcome, the new Mexican president will be a partner committed to curbing the violence and the corrosive influence of the drug cartels.
