The Clerk read as follows: Mrs. Kirkpatrick moves to recommit the bill H.R. 4315 to the Committee on Natural Resources with instructions to report the same back to the House forthwith with the following amendment: SEC. __. CONSULTATION WITH INDIAN TRIBES. (a) Requirement.--The Endangered Species Act of 1973 (16 U.S.C. 1531 et seq.) is amended by adding at the end the following: ``SEC. 17. FULFILLMENT OF FEDERAL TRUST RESPONSIBILITY WITH RESPECT TO INDIAN TRIBES. ``In carrying out this Act, the Secretary shall consult with affected Indian tribes to ensure that the Federal trust responsibility with respect to Indian tribes is fulfilled.''. (b) Clerical Amendment.--The table of contents in the first section of such Act is amended by adding at the end the following: ``Sec. 17. Fulfillment of Federal trust responsibility with respect to Indian tribes.''.”
