At a time when we are faced with the need to reduce funding in many areas of government, I thank the committee for preserving the budgetary assistance to American Samoa. I want to thank the chairman for his kind words and continued leadership, and I look forward to working with him to ensure that the territories are given the same opportunity as the States.
