Bill Jefferson Clinton served as the 42nd President of the United States from January 20, 1993, to January 20, 2001. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously held the position of Governor of Arkansas from 1983 to 1992. His administration is noted for achieving a budget surplus and for the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
