When the American people make up their mind to do something, they can get out ahead of the leaders in a hurry, and that's a good thing.

Our country will miss her.

Respect for others begins at home, in our hearts and in our neighborhoods.

We have to give everybody the tools to make the most of their own lives.

The only way we can ever do it is if we maintain the right blend of local control of our schools, State leadership, but adherence to high national standards.

I think it's very important that the American people respond to the challenge that I laid out last night to make American education the best in the world.

We really are moving into a time where more people from more walks of life will have a chance to rise higher and to live out more of their dreams than at any time in history.

Learning has got to become a lifetime endeavor.

You can't blame that old system anymore.

We must harness the powerful forces of science and technology to benefit all Americans.

The enemy of our time is inaction.

Let us do what it takes to remain the indispensable nation.

We're not just moving into a new century and a new millennium; we're moving into a whole new way of doing things.

This is a very, very important time to be making these judgments.

We have produced 11.2 million jobs for the first time in history in a 4-year Presidential administration.

The Nation is strong; we are at peace; we have extraordinary prosperity.

We have a unique opportunity and a common responsibility, which is to take action together to try to prepare this country not just for the next 4 years but for the next 50 years.

We have restored the family and community as the centerpiece of our social agenda.

I'm proud of that, perhaps proudest of all that we have rebuked the people who want to divide us as a nation.

If we don't, you ain't seen nothing yet.

I now ask you to join me in a toast to our partnership, to the Governors, and especially to Governor and Mrs. Miller and to Governor and Mrs. Voinovich.

I look forward to the next 4.

Our economy is the strongest it's been in 30 years.

This has been a good 4 years for America.
