I feel very strongly that it's—we're going to keep wiring these classrooms, and a lot of you have benefited from the E-rate program.
Bill Clinton
The Public Record
Bill Jefferson Clinton served as the 42nd President of the United States from January 20, 1993, to January 20, 2001. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously held the position of Governor of Arkansas from 1983 to 1992. During his presidency, Clinton focused on several key policies, including welfare reform, economic growth, and healthcare reform. His administration is noted for achieving a budget surplus and for the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
We have waited a long time for our country to be in a position, because of our prosperity, to reach across party lines and regional and racial and all the other lines that divide us.
I am not looking forward to his departure, because he has been such an important part of virtually everything we have worked on over the past 6 years.
He has been an invaluable source of policy and political advice for me and my staff.
I hope that more people coming into careers in public service will 'be like Doug.'
Doug represents what is best about politics— a recognition that the root of the word is 'people' and doing good things for people is what it's all about.
Denver's done a lot of work on the livable community issue with regard to brownfields, cleaning up around Stapleton Airport.
In this new century, America will lead the world toward shared peace and prosperity.
The future is not an inheritance, it is an opportunity and an obligation.
The worst thing you can do for people you're trying to help is to help them too much.
We must all do our part to rebuild the American Dream for all our people, reaching out to those who feel left out or left behind.
We should not be held hostage to a world of fear and hate, when the possibilities for love and understanding are boundless.
I mean, my philosophy has been, ever since I got here, is that in the modern political world, the most important thing you can do is get up and go to work.
I'm going to try to get a lot done in education, in health care, in bringing opportunity to poor people and reducing poverty in this country.
