There is hereby established an advisory council entitled the 'President's Fair Housing Council'.

By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, and in accordance with the Fair Housing Act, as amended.

If we need to do it, we can.

It tells everybody if you assume certain responsibilities, if you make certain investments, if you make certain commitments, there are rewards.

The Council shall review the design and delivery of Federal programs and activities to ensure that they support a coordinated strategy to affirmatively further fair housing.

You are authorized to provide Individual Assistance and Public Assistance in the designated areas.

Let the community drive that plan.

I spoke early this morning with Mayor Riordan and then with Governor Wilson.

I know the rest of America will offer them their thoughts and their prayers tonight.

I was able to watch it all unfold on television.

They made the word 'American' mean something unique because they, all of them, in a way were trying to get us to live by what we said we believed.

Democracy means more than one thing.

I ask the American people to remember the people of Los Angeles County in their thoughts and prayers today.

Men hate each other because they fear each other.

We want a comprehensive plan to revitalize urban areas, rural areas, distressed communities.

I expect to be getting reports on this all through tomorrow.

We want to attract businesses back to these communities, because that will be the engine of revitalization for the community.

We want a plan that ultimately comes up with economic opportunity, economic prosperity.

Government isn't going to do this; this is going to be an endeavor that's going to involve the private sector, the residents of the community, state and local government.

You are hereby authorized to allocate from funds available for these purposes, such amounts as you find necessary for Federal disaster assistance and administrative expenses.

Dr. King redeemed the moral purpose of our United States.

We may have other representatives of the Government there.

That is why President Asad has called for a 'peace of the brave.'

I really just wanted to say that I think we had a good trip, and I'm sorry I put you through so much.
