Mike Dennis Rogers is a former U.S. Representative for Alabama's 3rd congressional district, serving from 2003 to 2015. Please update us on the status of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant in New Mexico subsequent to the events early last year that caused a radiation release and shutdown of the facility's underground operations.
What goes on at this facility and why does the budget request include funding for recapitalization of the Spent Fuel Handling facility out there?
Absent this funding, will costs increase in the long-term for either NNSA or the Navy?
