“I am happy to answer. Obviously, it is well- intentioned, but I agree with the distinguished chairman of the committee who has done an excellent job on this entire bill. I commend him. The chairman and ranking member, our two friends from New Mexico, have done great things in this bill, but I think this kind of amendment would cripple its chance of passage. It does not meet the test of scientific reasonableness, sound science that I think we have to follow if we are to make some major improvements in the energy situation in our country.”
