this amendment provides supplemental appropriations for fiscal year 1996 for VA compensation and pensions. The department has just, today, notified our staffs that they anticipate being short $100 million in this current fiscal year for compensation. Without this supplemental, checks for about 2 million veterans would be delayed for a week until the start of the new fiscal year. It is supported on this side.
