Mr. President, I have to say to the Senator from Rhode Island, we will get some of that water that fizzes because we will need it as the night goes on. The point is simple. To the American people, to the Alaskans who are watching, this process we go through here, which is really about getting us to a bill--that is what we are trying to do so we can have a debate across the aisle, have a discussion about what is the right policy when it comes to jobs and how to make sure we do the right thing regarding our economy. Instead of having to debate, they would rather stop the motion to proceed and end the story. I rise this evening for the same reason many other folks are talking tonight--in support of the Creating American Jobs and Ending Offshoring Act. I believe we should reward companies that keep Americans working here in our country. As a former mayor, and really longer than any time I have served in public office, as a small business owner--that is what I spent my life around. I understand the impact of legislation and what it means for a business owner. As I have said in the Budget Committee and on the floor, I am probably one of the few who have filled out--in one of the debates we had a couple weeks ago--1099 forms. I understand what it means for a small businessperson to spend the time to try to build their business and what it means.…
