Today is a big moment for our country. This is a big step, real change for our children and our future.
Sir Keir Starmer

If there is a challenge, I will fight. I’m not going to walk away from this.
I don’t think we should have a challenge, because I think it’ll throw the country into chaos.
It will allow our armed forces to transform and modernise and back them with the tools they need to change the way we fight — and to deter our enemies.
It will provide the resources our military needs to keep us safe and the clarity the British defence industry needs to plan.
And let me just be clear with you. That’s not about personal vanity, it’s not about stubbornness. It’s out of a very deep sense of duty.
I recognise that I’ve got to turn things around. We had a very bad set of elections.
When it comes to defence, it's my number one priority. And I have taken the difficult decisions to make sure that we are safe as a country because that is my number one priority.
It's out of a very deep sense of duty. I was elected to serve this country notwithstanding the difficult circumstances that is what I am doing.
Well, that’s what I want to do. I recognise that I’ve got to turn things around.
That’s not about personal vanity, it’s not about stubbornness. It’s out of a very deep sense of duty.
I don’t think we should plunge the country into the chaos of a leadership election.
The Government will "give our armed forces the capabilities they need to defend Britain and keep our nation secure"

I was elected to serve this country notwithstanding difficult circumstances - that is what I am doing.
Let me be clear that this is not about personal vanity, it is not about stubbornness, it is about a very deep sense of duty.
I have a duty to stay on as prime minister as I sought to justify my decisions on defence spending.
When they were in office, they didn't reform welfare or invest in our armed services.
I demand that tech companies including Apple and Google block access to naked images on smartphones and other devices for anyone under 18 years old.
We will act and we will change the law because when it comes to the safety of our children, standing by is not an option.
Because this is not an impossible challenge. These are some of the most innovative companies in the world and I believe they can solve it.
I reject that completely, because tech should adapt to the needs of society, not the other way around.
