The economy today is stronger, fairer and more resilient because of the choices we have taken as a Labour Government over the past two years.

And to every young woman and girl let my time in office show there should be no ceilings on your ambitions, your hopes or your dreams.

Andy has never shied away from the fact that he wanted at some point to lead the Labor Party. And I want him to be ready for that, because I want him to be a success, and I am sure he will be.

Having more decision makers, both officials and ministers, based in the north of England and in different parts of the country, would be a good thing for policy making.

Our plan for the economy has put Britain on a stronger footing – restoring stability, getting investment flowing, and delivering reform.

As those shocks come along, he needs to stay laser-focused on those things that have always motivated him, have always driven him, and are the reason why he wants to lead our great country.

When they succeed, we all succeed, and today’s major reforms are the most significant step in years to unleash their potential.
