He is the first candidate to say he will fight for Rosebank and Jackdaw until the UK Government approves them.

I agree with him, and I would sooner say it now than after more jobs are lost.

He is a decent man. And a kind man.

With my membership of the Parliamentary Labour Party restored, I am excited to play a full part in supporting our new Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, his government, and in renewing Scottish Labour.

I have never been part of a police investigation, as a suspect or as a witness, and I am pleased that this has now been recognised.

The support I have received from colleagues across the political spectrum, my constituents and my local Labour Party has been steadfast.

I am also deeply grateful to everyone who has stood by me when it was politically easier to distance themselves. You know who you are – thank you.

I will continue to talk to the police and other services about how we can keep people safe and our streets clear of those only out to cause trouble.

the scenes in East Kilbride last night were disgraceful

There is no excuse for masked intimidation or for people pretending to protest when they are really just looking for a fight.

It frightens local people and it shames our town.

Most of us in East Kilbride want the same simple thing: to get on with our lives and feel safe in our own streets.
