I was delighted to see the President invite the leaders down to the White House for such a good meeting. I know they have had some joint meetings before, but we are never going to get anywhere in the Senate where we have a relatively equal number of Members--as we now do or are now about to--unless we swap ideas. So I assume they are down there swapping ideas. I assume they can read the calendar, and I assume they can remember that last year we were standing here in the worst snowstorm in decades in the middle of the night--1 a.m.--voting on bills nobody had read. I don't think we want to do that kind of thing again.
