during the 1980s, somehow the Senate took a survey among themselves about who was the most admired Member of the Senate, and according to press reports, Senator Howard Baker of Tennessee was the most admired Senator by both Republicans and by Democrats. If such a survey were to be taken today, Judd Gregg would certainly be at the top of that list for most of us. There is not a better Member of the Senate. Much has been said about him, so I will say three things quickly because there are other Senators who wish to speak. First, Judd Gregg is of New Hampshire, not from New Hampshire. Sometimes we say, Senator so-and-so is from Tennessee or from New York or from South Dakota or from Maine, but the Senator whose roots are where roots are supposed to be is ``of'' his State. Judd Gregg sounds as though he is from New Hampshire. He acts as though he is from New Hampshire. He is from New Hampshire. He votes as though he is from New Hampshire. The Old Man of the Mountain, which was a rock up in New Hampshire, could be seen by those who drove by it. The rock fell down a few years ago and I thought: Well, maybe the best way to replace it is to put Judd Gregg back up there because he is of New Hampshire.
