In a vast majority of cases the mutineers succeeded in extorting a reduction of rent, not any more immoderate than the reduction voluntarily made by good landlords, or decreed in the land-courts.
Morley notes that many Irish mutineers managed to negotiate rent reductions comparable to those offered by fair landlords.
