as in legislative session, I ask unanimous consent that the Senate proceed to the immediate consideration of Calendar No. 75, S. 583. The PRESIDING OFFICER. The clerk will report the bill by title. The senior assistant legislative clerk read as follows: A bill (S. 583) to amend the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 to authorize COPS grantees to use grant funds to hire veterans as career law enforcement officers, and for other purposes. There being no objection, the Senate proceeded to consider the bill.
