I want to assure you that you will have my complete and wholehearted support as you take the oath of office this January.

I am proud of the fact that we have given additional support to our national defense program.

The United States will fully support an agreement reached between Britain and the IMF.

I just couldn't come to Oregon and get a finer display of the kind of support that I want.

What this event shows, far more than money, is that the heart of America goes out to those who suffer every place in the world.

I am confident that the Congress and the American people will support this request for emergency assistance for these two beleaguered friends.

The purpose of the Foundation is not to alter the role of private patronage in the arts and humanities, but rather to supplement, stimulate, and extend that role.

I urge the citizens of this Nation to observe that day with community programs which will promote understanding and support for the United Nations and its affiliated agencies.

With your continued support, we can achieve them both.

This legislation once again provides dramatic and heartwarming evidence that America is the country that cares -- and translates that humanitarian care into a better life for those who need, and deserve, the support of their fellow citizens.

It reaffirms and reinforces America's traditional efforts to assist those of our citizens who, through no fault of their own, are unable to help themselves.

This bill will also give strong support to the delegation we will be sending to London at the end of this month to seek a much needed international convention on this important matter.

It answers a long-felt need, and I am happy to give it my approval.

Give them the backing and the respect they deserve for the job that they do.

Give us the tools and we will do the job.

At that time, I also pointed out that this exposition was dependent upon the assurance of suitable support and a review of financial and other arrangements by appropriate parties, including high-level government officials.

I want to extend my deepest sympathy to the families struck by this disaster.
