The stakes are high, which I think is -- I think you guys all recognize that.

There are a whole range of ideas that if you strip away the politics, there's actually a pretty broad consensus in this country.

So more than anything, what we're looking for is not the defeat of another party, what we're looking for is the advancement of ideas.

We are achieving something that we haven't achieved in nearly a decade.

I'm incredibly optimistic about our future.

This first step achieves a great deal in its own right.

I'm optimistic that we can get it fixed.

H.R. 1965 would undermine the Nation's energy security.

We haven't seen the kind of takeup from the other side that we'd like to see so far.

The American people and our judicial system deserve better.

That's where we're heading.

And that's part of what the Vice President has been focused on when he's been going to ports up and down the Eastern Seaboard.

We see it as part of the broadly positive trend in the region.

I am confident that these outstanding individuals will greatly serve the American people in their new roles and I look forward to working with them in the months and years to come.

The only way that we advance the issues that people around the country care about is if we synch up the spirit and the goodness and the decency of the American people with our politics.

H.R. 2655 is an attempt to amend the rules directly, over the objections of the Judicial Conference.

The bill would actually increase litigation.

This is the gift they've given us.
