America was in very deep trouble.

I pledge my cooperation and my continuing effort on behalf of American education.

The American people have been disillusioned.

We've done quite well, but we're going to do better.

The local control that you represent is not only an American tradition, it makes awfully good sense.

Give me your mandate and we will reduce the growth of government still more.

Let me say you are here because you want to know where I stand on the issues.

I can't imagine a more wonderful way to end a beautiful day in the State of Illinois than to come to this plaza and see so many wonderful people who are going to support Jerry Ford for President.
