I want to make it clear that the Senators who are here and others strongly support what is being done.

It will get straightened out if it passes, because once the bill passes, reality takes over and the rhetoric shrinks.

Tonight I will address the Nation about my plans to put our economic house in order.

Today the Senate passed our national service program, one of my top legislative priorities.

I think we need a balanced package.

All of the things that this Government does, it does pretty well.

There will be many more budget cuts.

We are determined to do that.

I think we've shown a lot more party cohesion than the Republicans have.

I have to face the fact that that's where it is.

I don't think it has anything to do with principle, and I don't think it's personal.

We think we have some options to offset it.

I pledged to the American people that I would do my best to fulfill the campaign commitment of 1992 to change the way Washington works.
