It is, of course, in the interest of the United States that United States citizens who participate in the activities of NATO, SEATO, and CENTO as direct hire employees of the civil or military agencies of those organizations be reliable, trustworthy, of good conduct and character, and of complete and unswerving loyalty to the United States.

All of us have enjoyed freedom, but you have stood ready to fight for it--you have protected it.

None have contributed more to America than our servicemen.

We will never give up with regard to our prisoners of war.

As we get down in numbers, each withdrawal has a much more dramatic effect on the percentage that we have there.

I have given instructions that we will take out the SAM [surface-to-air missile] site or whatever it is that has fired upon them.

We have not yet ended the war in Vietnam.

The enemy may throw new forces into the battle.

The Secretary of Defense is authorized to delegate to one or more of the Secretaries of the military Departments any of the authority conferred upon him by this order.

I would like through all these gallant men to honor the men of the United States Air Force who are serving us in Vietnam and in that area.

Major Fisher has won this honor--the Nation's highest honor--because of uncommon gallantry in the face of death.

Our orders are to bomb only military targets.

It is encouraging to me, and I know it is to the Postmaster General and the Secretary of Defense, that the mail to and from Viet-Nam is moving rapidly.

So be assured that you are in America's heart, for it is you that are fighting her battle--and a grateful Nation thanks, appreciates, remembers, and prays for all of you.

FOR 25 years Armed Forces Radio has been a voice from home.

Always, the objective is to come home again. Home with the battle won.

And tonight, even as we speak, American men are fighting in a strange land, a half a world away.

And finally, in Vietnam, the tide of battle has turned.
