Today I am pleased to sign into law S. 2712, the 'Reports Consolidation Act of 2000.'

I commend the House and Senate for passing a version of the District of Columbia appropriations bill that I can sign.

This Act builds on the success of a pilot program started in 1994.

Congress should come together to pass this long overdue legislation.

I think they will ratify it pretty soon.

I am pleased to approve this legislation honoring one of the Nation's great citizens.

Today I am pleased to sign into law H.R. 4986, the 'FSC Repeal and Extraterritorial Income Exclusion Act of 2000.'

This revised Act must recognize the current realities of a fast-paced highly competitive global market.

I am proud of the DC College Access Act.

The decision before Congress is whether to go from an annual review of their trade relationships with us, to give them permanent normal trading status.

I urge the Senate to move swiftly on this legislation.

If a bill that fails to address these concerns were to come to me in its current form, I would have to veto it.

We must also continue to work to pass a broad range of long-term care initiatives.

I hope that the legislation serves as a model for all private employers and encourages them to provide this type of coverage to their employees.

I am extremely pleased that today the House passed H.R. 4386, the 'Breast and Cervical Cancer Treatment Act,' in an overwhelming bipartisan vote.

This legislation, which I have long advocated, provides authorization for the Federal Employee Health Benefit Program to offer long-term care insurance to current and retired Federal employees.

It is unconscionable—it is now over a year after Columbine and over 10 months since they've had a chance to pass this legislation.

I call on Congress to help us strengthen food safety across the board.
