We have taken major new initiatives to give strong momentum to closer multilateral cooperation and to develop a fairer and more efficient framework for the conduct of international economic relations.

It is one that seeks peace for ourselves and for other nations and, of course, seeks, in addition to that, a world in which all nations will have the right to be independent of foreign domination.

Trade between nations, no matter how great it is, does not necessarily lead to peace.

Communication between peoples, I very sincerely believe having taken some role in opening communications with other nations in the world over the past 4 1/2 years, I believe that as we increase communication between peoples at all levels…

For the first time in 12 years the United States, at the 'time these awards are being made, is at peace with every nation in the world, and that is symbolized, it seems to me, and brought home by the fact that the 11 award winners are…

We look forward to our talks, to get your judgment as to how all nations can contribute to the goal of not simply an end to the fighting which is going on now but to building a new structure of peace in the Mideast.

The world's hope for peace depends on America's strength.

The prospects for a full generation of peace are brighter than at any time since the end of World War II.

A structure of peace has to be built in such a way that all those who might be tempted to destroy it will instead have a stake in preserving it.

We have ended nearly a quarter century of mutual isolation between the United States and the People's Republic of China.

Keep America strong, be sure that we see that the United States remains respected in the world.

Let me say this: I want all of you to know, I have sat for long days, day on day, in negotiations at the highest level in Peking and Moscow.
