Human rights

Congress cannot simple--simply say we are only concerned about Christian persecution. We are concerned about anyone's human rights being violated.

The Communist Party has a long, dark history of political suppression, persecution and violence, and that is against their own people.

I can't think of anything more horrific or more barbaric than this practice that the Chinese Communist Party engages in to hold people down against their will, and sometimes anesthetize them, sometimes not, and take out their very vital…

The U.S. should not be complicit in these abhorrent practices.

I also support H. Res. 90 which condemns the unjust and arbitrary detention of Mark Swidan by the People's Republic of China and demand his immediate release.

This resolution not only condemns the CCP for their brazen violation of international law but also demands the CCP immediately release Mr. Swidan.

How do we trust the Chinese Communist Party to do anything they say they are going to do with their increased coal power capacity and everything else that they are doing, and their violations of human rights in the world?

As you know, under President Xi Jinping, human rights abuse throughout China have significantly worsened, including the pervasive use of torture, religious persecution, human trafficking, and genocide against Muslim Uyghurs.

We have other differences on human rights, but those should not get in the way of something that is as critical as dealing with climate.

I do want to comment, however, that I, too, have great concern over the Rohingya and the situation that they face.

The military coup is unacceptable, and I would hope that the military would stop killing people and we need to reverse the coup.

How can we trust that the Rohingya aren't going to be continued to be killed if we support the National Unity Government?
