We come to celebrate and give thanks for the remarkable life of J. William Fulbright.

We must be thankful, with all of our challenges, for what's right with America.

I'm very thankful for that.

You, as much as any group in America today, embody all those, and all Americans are in your gratitude.

A grateful nation thanks you with this day and with all our hearts for what you have done and what you continue to do.

To those of you here who defended us in that war, I salute you, and on behalf of all the American people, I thank you.

I thank you again for all your enormous effort and work.

Let us all, all of us Americans, spend this next week in gratitude, in reflection, and with resolve.

Our Nation is in your debt.

A grateful nation must never forget that.

The Nation's peace and stability are in very capable hands; we are deeply grateful.

American owes you a debt of gratitude for all that you have done for our Nation and for all that you continue to do to protect the blessings of liberty we cherish.

Every day, your lives symbolize that, the first and most enduring lesson of our democracy, and I thank you for it.

I want to thank you for your support of this endeavor.

I feel a sense of gratitude that we had the opportunity to do it.
