Communication between peoples, I very sincerely believe having taken some role in opening communications with other nations in the world over the past 4 1/2 years, I believe that as we increase communication between peoples at all levels, the opportunity of discussing differences rather than fighting about differences is greatly increased.

I can only characterize the meetings by saying that, as was the previous case when I have met with the President, our discussions were not only candid and frank but, above all, they were constructive.

He needs to be not only articulate, as he is, as he has just demonstrated, and tenacious, as he obviously will be, but he also has to be a magician.

Communication by satellite is a tool--one of the most promising which mankind has had thus far--to attain this end.

Does that make it clear to anybody and everybody, including all the foreign press that may want to pick it up?

Mr. Nixon's message is another indication of the fact that he would rather debate with mimeograph machines and telegrams than face to face.
