Sexual and domestic abuse crimes are overwhelmingly perpetrated by men against women and, ultimately, men must change their behaviour.

We must root out and tackle the toxic masculinity and gender inequality that leads to violence, harassment, misogyny and abuse against women.

This is a horrific and deeply shocking case and my thoughts, first and foremost, are with the victims, who have shown enormous courage in coming forward.

The public place their trust in the police and for any officer to abuse that trust and the office they hold is truly heinous.

Prisons will always be necessary for those who pose the highest risk.

Violence against women is abhorrent, and we are working closely with partners, including Police Scotland, to tackle it.

Scotland’s prison population, like many comparable countries, has risen to unsustainable levels and must be addressed.

We are taking a number of actions to tackle this, including building two new prisons and maximising capacity within the prison estate.

I thank police officers and staff for all that they do to keep Scotland safe.

We have invested more than £1.7 billion in policing this year, and Scotland continues to be a safe place to live.

There has been no veto.

The scenes in Glasgow today were totally unacceptable. This has been a deeply distressing day for members of the public in Glasgow.

Any form of hatred, prejudice, intolerance or violence on our streets is abhorrent – and perpetrators will be brought to justice.

Scotland is a diverse, multicultural, inclusive and welcoming nation and those who choose to make their lives here are valued members of our communities.

The fire service had repeatedly advised that sufficient ground support was available.

We must stand against racism, hatred and intimidation and those who would seek to divide our communities.

I am looking to have a full review of our wildfire strategy.

I recognise that these proposed changes are bold and hope this can contribute to thoughtful debate on the consequences of not addressing a rising prison population and also the outcomes of any sentence for a crime committed.

The focus now moves to implementing the law, as clarified by the court, maintaining a clear focus on the safety, wellbeing and rights of all those living and working within Scotland’s prisons.

Following careful consideration of Lady Ross’s judgment, we accept the ruling and have decided not to appeal.

These attacks were awful and my thoughts are with those who were injured and affected by them.

There is no place for racism or faith-based hate in Scotland.

We should celebrate it. We should protect it and cherish it, and always, always stand up to those who would seek to divide, intimidate, cause fear and alarm, including in this Parliament.
