They refused to let me talk to any detainees.

Ultimately, Delaney Hall must be shut down. We must continue to fight the abuses being carried out by ICE and DHS and hold the Trump Administration accountable.

This is impeding my ability to lawfully do the oversight that I’m legally allowed to do, and I told them I thought this was a deep breach of my responsibilities and what the American people are demanding.

I’m proud my Energy and Commerce Committee advanced this legislation to continue that mission and ensure Bill’s advocacy leaves a lasting mark on the country he loved so deeply.

I visited the men and women suffering in ICE detention at Delaney Hall earlier this year, and I was shocked by the conditions they told me they had to endure. I am disgusted that these conditions only continue to worsen for detainees.

We are increasing funding for the Detention Deportation Defense Initiative by $12 million – for a total of $20.2 million.
