The time for inaction is over. My constituents are tired of excuses. They do not want to see war scenes play out in grocery stores or movie theaters or schools. They are tired of it.

It is emblematic of the incoherent Federal response to these mass shootings year after year after year, and I think reflects the need for the Congress to address the gun violence in our country that has just metastasized over time.

The time is now as President Biden said just yesterday to reinstate that ban in the Congress as well as take a number of other steps.

And I want to thank Rep. Veasey, Rep. Fletcher for working with me to implement a number of the recommendations from our Climate Crisis Action Plan.

I also want to thank the leadership of two of our colleagues, Representatives Fletcher and Veasey, who have been tireless advocates for their constituents in this time of crisis.

The Texas grid must be designed with a full appreciation that climate change is real.

And I want to thank Representative Rice and others who have pointed out how Texas has dropped the ball.

Adapting and confronting to a changing climate will not come cheap, and it will not come easily.

I think we have to press forward and I`m certainly going to press forward with my colleagues to make sure we pass common sense gun violence reform.

When he was a senator and they had an assault weapons ban, the violent crime in the United States went up.

There is clearly a gun violence crisis in our country that has been metastasizing year after year, decade after decade.

We have to learn exactly what happened, why it happened, and what we need to do to make sure it doesn't happen again in Texas or anywhere else.

What a sacrifice of their right to be free from fear. Who are we to insist that they live terrified in their own country? Nobody insisted that we live that way. But our failure to act has helped create these conditions. And we can't wait…

It’s clear that enough is enough, and that the Congress has to do something, I think we have gone far too long without taking meaningful action on gun violence.

Americans should be able to feel safe in their grocery stores, in their movie theaters, in their schools.

It is so important that the Bureau of Land Management headquarters stays in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Readiness is not just having enough spare parts on the shelves or enough aircraft to fly.

Keeping the BLM headquarters out west is one example of a decision that we can make to save taxpayer money.
