From the moment these devastating cuts were announced, I made it clear that New York would not stand by while our law enforcement and counterterrorism operations were defunded.

I’m glad President Trump heard our call and reversed course, ensuring our state has the resources necessary to support law enforcement and keep our families safe.

From day one, I made clear that these cuts were unacceptable and posed a direct threat to the safety of New Yorkers.

Eliminating opportunities for excellence doesn’t help underserved kids, it perpetuates the problem.

Americans see it clearly: They know Trump governs by chaos and welcomes this shutdown — and that Republicans are following his orders to maximize pain. That cruelty is already backfiring.

I would welcome his support. You know, this is a general election, it’s Democrats, Republicans, independents.

I have not had a conversation, nor would I accept an endorsement from President Trump.
