Yes, we should reauthorize FISA

This is the second time in less than a year that Delawareans working to serve others have faced targeted gun violence.

Today, it is on us to be strong for them in their time of pain and grief. Our hearts are with the families of the victims and the Wilmington Hospital community.

Today, our hearts break for Wilmington. A gunman turned what should be a place of healing and hope into a place of terror.

We have to address gun violence. We cannot become numb to this.

Americans are struggling with rising prices across the board while reliable domestic manufacturing jobs are moving overseas.

To defend our nation and what it means is to defend religious freedom. To defend our Constitution is to defend religious freedom. To defend religious freedom is to defend ourselves, our future, and our very republic.

Religious freedom, as I’ve said, is a fundamental threat to authoritarianism, and it is because of our commitment to a freedom of faith that we are also, as a nation, committed to an equality of all.

The U.S.-Israel relationship does not require silence in the face of humiliation of detainees or conduct that undermines basic human dignity.

I think freedom of religion is among those most basic and eternal. And I think when we fail to remember that and to give it life, and purpose, and meaning, we no longer deserve the freedoms for which our forebears fought.

Our doctors, nurses, and support staff are the best of Delaware. They hold us together in our darkest hours.
