But when we talk about regulations and bureaucrats and freedom to farm and all of the constraints placed on farmers today in our country, let us also remember something else: That we today are the envy of the world with the production of food and fiber in our country for the rest of the world. We have the opportunity to feed the rest of the world. In many instances, had it not been for the American farmer and the American farm system, which we are about to annihilate, we would see that many areas of the world would have gone hungry. I say this in all respect to those advocates for the freedom to farm legislation. If we pass this legislation, we will be going on a cheap drunk.
